Amos 7:14-15 (NASB95) – 14 Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs. 15 “But the Lord took me from following the flock and the Lord said to me, ‘Go prophesy to My people Israel.’
My name is Dan Lowe and I can relate well to Amos here in this text. There is nothing unique about me which qualifies me to speak to God’s people. I spent nearly ten years working in the criminal justice system in Arizona before God called me into full-time ministry. I am a graduate of Phoenix Seminary and I have pastored two churches over the past few years. Presently I am not pastoring full-time, but am serving God as a hospice chaplain in Payson, Arizona.
God has blessed me with a wonderful, godly wife who is far more precious than jewels (Prov 31:10) and three beautiful daughters.
This blog will probably be of limited interest to most people. Most of my thoughts are probably limited in terms of wisdom and godliness. I started this blog in an effort to provide additional teaching and encouragment for those I was called to shepherd in a local church. I am continuing to maintain this blog even though I am not presently pastoring a church in hopes that it will be of some encouragment to those who might read it. I will be posting manuscripts of any sermons I am privileged to teach. I will be sharing various thoughts which God lays upon my heart as I strive to walk with Him. I will also be providing links to various online sermons, articles, etc, which I have found edifying.
It is my prayer that we can be edified together as we daily seek the Lord!
Soli Deo Gloria!!!
I appreciate your heart.
I read some of your sermons as well.
Thanks,
Mark
Dan,
The tension you feel as a pastor is a great one. I am not a pastor but as a teacher in my church I definitely feel the weight of my lack of qualification at times, lately while preparing to teach 1 Corinthians 14. The rub is that we aren’t qualified, but woraking at having Christ working in us is hard, to say the least. Thanks for the link. Keep it up, brother.
Thanks for the encouraging word! It is an awesome thing to teach the Word of God. May God be gracious to all of us earthen vessels as we strive to be ambassadors of Christ!
